So you need a DEI team? A little bit about QuakeCare

We want to be on your team.

Over the last few years, the QuakeLab team has had the distinct privilege of partnering with  organizations to radically change the way they work. We’ve immersed ourselves in their cultures, processes, and people for up to 12 months, and then like proud parents, pushed them out of the nest to make strides and grow on their own.

We try our very best to leave the folks we work with in good enough shape to carry forward equity work on their own. But, as we all know, what you hope for and what happens don’t always align.

The reality is that most organizations don’t have the benefit of an in-house team that’s dedicated  to identifying equity challenges; doing the research, data collection and analysis; developing plans and then executing on them. This is certainly not news to you, in fact, chances are you’re reading this because you are someone who is part of an employee resource group (ERGs) that was created to drive equity at your workplace forward, and chances are, you’re doing this work at the side of your desk.

The thing about these ERGs is:

  • They are most likely volunteer led (i.e. non paid)

  • They are most likely staffed by marginalized people; the same people who statistically are more likely to take on “glue work

  • They receive little to no administrative or executive support

  • They typically don’t have a dedicated budget

Whether you call it an ERG, DEI committee, or Equity working group - it’s guaranteed that they are struggling under the weight of responsibility, lack of expertise, and lack of resources (like time, money, and labour).

On top of these barriers, these committees and ERG’s are struggling with direction. They are essentially tasked with creating their own department, setting a mandate, timelines, and goals without compensation or internal support.

And they. Are. Struggling.

So where do we come in?

In a perfect world, your company would have the resources to build their own equity department just like they would a finance team, communications team, product design team, etc.

Now, you’ve probably choked on your coffee just reading those last two sentences and are 100% clutching your pearls.

We know building a full force department may not be within reach any time soon.

That’s where we come in. Introducing: QuakeCare, your new internal full service DEI department.

With QuakeCare, you have access to the collective expertise of the QuakeLab team, including our data specialists and the tools we use to do this work. QuakeCare provides you the opportunity to have a team of DE&I experts involved in everything from your planning meetings, reviewing material, setting goals, and walking with you every step of the way through your equity journey. Whether you need us for 10 hours a month, or 10 hours a week, QuakeCare gives you access to a full, in-house equity team, tools, and expertise for a fraction of the cost.

Whether you've worked with QuakeLab before and are looking for some additional support, or you've never worked with us but are in need of experienced external consultants to help support and strengthen your company’s DEI strategy, QuakeCare is for you!
